The 1/35 Krupp Protze with 37cm PAK 35/36 Anti-Tank Gun was developed by the Krupp company in the early 1930s, the L2 H43 truck earned the nickname “Boxer” due to its distinctive air-cooled engine layout. Designed as a versatile military vehicle, it was intended to transport troops and light artillery while offering good mobility and reliability for its time.
Continuous development led to improved performance and refinements that allowed the vehicle to tow the PAK 35/36 anti-tank gun effectively. With these upgrades, the vehicle was renamed the Protze and adapted to carry a full artillery crew along with their equipment, transforming it into a practical and mobile support platform for anti-tank units.
At the outbreak of World War II, the Krupp Protze became standard equipment within German anti-tank artillery formations. Its mobility and towing capability made it well-suited for early campaigns, and it saw active service on battlefronts such as Poland and France, where it played a supporting role in Germany's early armored warfare strategy.
