Take to the skies with the Academy 1/48 scale Hughes 500D Police Helicopter plastic model kit. The Hughes 500 family of light helicopters traces its roots to the OH-6 Cayuse, and this kit captures the police version of the 500D, one of the most recognizable law enforcement helicopters around. It comes with decals for a California Highway Patrol aircraft, so your finished model looks the part.

This kit has plenty of detail for its size. You get a detailed interior and cockpit, engraved panel lines, and a clear cockpit canopy that lets you see all that work once it’s built. The main rotor blade can be spun, which makes it fun to handle and display. Pictorial instructions walk you through the build.

It’s a compact build that works for aviation fans, law enforcement collectors, and anyone who wants a fun weekend project. Paint and glue are required and not included.
